Promaxyl Review

Does Promaxyl really work to get rid of stretch marks? Here is a look at how this product works, the ingredients, the pros and cons of using the cream and our verdict.
What is Promaxyl stretch mark cream?
Promaxyl stretch mark cream is a topical preparation that has to be rubbed into the affected parts to reduce the visible signs of stretch marks. However, contrary to what the manufacturers are saying on their website, the product does not help to eliminate stretch marks completely. Also, the cream fails to prevent the appearance of new stretch marks as the user loses or gains weight etc.
How does the cream work?
The composition of the product is no different from the scores of creams and lotions meant to improve the overall texture of the skin. While you will find that the skin in the area of application is suppler after a few days of use; Promaxyl does not have any ingredient that would smooth out the ungainly, bumpy, ‘scar like' texture of stretch marks.
Since the Promaxyl stretch mark cream does have some substances that help to even the skin tone, you will find that the stretch marks will become lighter and will seemingly blend in the skin; however, they will not disappear.
The ingredients
The manufacturers do mention a list of ingredients on their website which includes:
Alkykl Benzoate
Butylene Gycol
Stearic Acid
Capric Triglyceride
Glyceryl Stearate
Extracts from Yeast
Extracts from Algae
Wheat Protein
The manufacturer claims that these ingredients, most of which can be clubbed under the umbrella term of peptide complexes, improve the protein production in the skin and help to smooth out stretch marks.
Actually substances such as Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Butylene Gycol
and Capric Triglyceride are commonly found in anti wrinkle preparations and moisturizers. So, while these ingredients do improve the skin tone, they can do little for stretch marks.
Also, yeast extract is being used in a lot of anti stretch mark creams such as Promaxyl and most manufacturers claim that it's the miracle cure for the blemishes. However, there are no clinical studies which back these claims. So, while yeast again may help to replenish the upper surface of the skin, it cannot control stretch marks.
Pros
- It has been mentioned on the site that a few clinical trials were conducted by the manufacturer. However, the findings of such studies would be more reliable had the trails been conducted by a third party.
- Can be ordered online
- Has to be used externally
- Ease of usage
Cons
- At almost $50, Promaxyl is more expensive than some other products in the category
- Does little to prevent the appearance of stretch marks
- Cannot eliminate existing stretch marks
- There have been reports of skin irritation and severe allergies caused due to the use of Promaxyl stretch mark cream
- The results from Promaxyl are temporary and will only last till you continue using the product.
The verdict:
If you are looking for a cream that offers temporary reprieve from stretch marks, Promaxyl might work for you. However, do not expect conspicuous results and be ready to find the skin smoothness disappearing once you stop using the cream. Although the product works as a good moisturizer, it will not help you to eliminate stretch marks permanently.
